President Kathy Beyer and the members of the Petoskey Youth Soccer
Association and their sponsors; Bay Street Orthopaedics, Petoskey
- Harbor Springs - Boyne Country Visitors Bureau, and Boyne USA
Resorts, must have been ecstatic with the awesome success of their
Petoskey Soccer Invitational Tournament this year. 180 teams and
nearly 3,000 soccer players, ages 10 to 18, descended on this
sparkling community by the bay.
Ah
what a weekend it was. During the day, soccer balls were flying
everywhere at the 13 locations and 27 fields involved in the tournament.
In the evening, fans could tune in on the action of the World
Cup or watch the Red Wings polish off the Washington Capitals
in game 3. It was soccer, soccer, hockey and more soccer.
Peter Fitzsimons, Executive Director of Petoskey-Harbor Springs-Boyne
Country-- one of the events sponsors; must have had a call into
the weather bureau, as it was absolutely fantastic for the weekend.
Sure, there were a few showers on Saturday morning but they quickly
departed.
New this year was a VIP party for Very Important Parents. Ginny
Nelson and Jim Ehrnst, co-directors of the event, felt that something
had to be done for the parents. The party at Victories Entertainment
was well attended.
The sponsors want to thank all for coming and they look forward
to seeing you all next year.
